Born in 1970, Brian Wills lives and works in Los Angeles, California. Wills wraps colored thread flush with or in relief across a variety of wood surfaces, which he at times encases in paint, coats with polyurethane or floats over stretcher bars. Wills’s work is geometric, patterned, and subtle, reflecting light as transparent or opaque, glossy or textured, depending on the position of the viewer.

Wills has exhibited nationally and internationally at Praz-Delavallade, Paris, France, Nye + Brown, The Underground Museum, and Roberts and Tilton, among others. He has been written about in Artforum, The Los Angeles Times, Modern Painters and elsewhere.
