BRIAN WILLS

1970
Born in Lexington, Kentucky

Los Angeles-based multimedia artist best known for his thread works. Influenced by James Turrell, Josef Albers and Agnes Martin, his paintings, consisting of densely woven, intersecting bands of color, give multiplied dimension to the picture plane. The simultaneously glossy and textured surfaces of his works reflect light differently depending on the position of the viewer. Looser compositions are covered with industrial polyurethane to harness light and alter perception. His work is included in the Frederick R. Weisman Foundation and the Dallas Price-Van Breda collection. He lives and works in Los Angeles.
