Italian sculptor, painter and art theorist who is known as one of the main representatives of the Italian Arte Povera movement. His work mainly deals with the subject matter of reflection and the unification of art in everyday life. He is best known for the life-size photographic likenesses of people and objects that he transferred on to reflective metal surfaces creating an evocative interplay between the static printed image and moving reflections of the spectator on the mirrored surface. Retrospectives of his art have been presented at the Palazzo Grassi in Venice, Galleria Nazionale d’Arte Moderna in Rome and Museu d’Art Contemporani in Barcelona amongst others. The Louvre in Paris recently presented a large-scale exhibition of his works.
